“Many people believe that mindfulness means acting carefully and cautiously, but that is not true. It is a code of conduct stemming from Buddhism that Western psychologists have taken up. It entails practising a certain attitude or frame of mind. Basically, it’s about being able to watch my body and mind while I am doing something. This way I can see when I am distracted, when certain emotions surface or when I need a break. This will create a basic ease of mind and heighten my ability to concentrate.”
